Cancer sucks. It sucks because it affects each and every one of us in some way. This past January, cancer hit especially hard in Carter's life, when he found out that his future sister-in-law, Amanda, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer.
There are two clear options one can choose when it comes to hearing hard-hitting news like a cancer diagnosis. You can either give up on life and let the cancer win, or you can fight it with everything you have inside of you. Despite the terrible news, Amanda made a choice to fight with everything she has, and she has been fighting well and victoriously.
Miles for Manny
Others have come alongside Amanda in this fight. She is the reason why Derk (brother-in law), Richard (uncle), Katelyn (cousin), and Michael (husband) have decided to team up with Fred's Team to run the New York City Marathon this November in support of her. Their team, Miles for Manny, hopes to bring continued awareness to fighting this horrible disease by supporting critical cancer research at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, a global leader in breast cancer research.
Carter is also choosing to fight cancer the best way he can—by dedicating one of his shows in October to critical cancer research. All earnings (including tips) made at his October 12th performance will go directly to the Miles for Manny team.
You can join this fight also, not just for Amanda, but for cancer patients everywhere. Simply attend this show and drop a tip of any amount in the guitar case during Carter's performance. Cash and checks are welcome, please just make sure you write the check out to "Carter Lezman."
